Su & Chan - Edinburgh Pre-Wedding Session
Su & Chan contacted me as they were visiting Edinburgh prior to their wedding. They said they wanted to have some engagement photos captured in some of Edinburgh’s most scenic locations, and of course I was up for it! While my heart is in the Highlands, I have a deep love for Edinburgh which has been my home for most of my adult years. It is a great starting point in visiting Scotland and has so much beauty and history on offer!
Since it was Su & Chan’s first time visiting the city, they asked me for some recommendations for great photography locations. As an Edinburgh wedding photographer, I am always happy to provide my clients with a curated list of locations. I am not just your photographer, I am there every step of the way to advice and guide you so you have the best experience of the city.
We started the photoshoot on Calton Hill which offers unmatched views of the Old Town of Edinburgh - just look at them! I took a variety of couple portraits at a popular scenic point. We then proceeded to the other side of the hill. There we found some lovely blooming yellow gorse which provided great framing for Su & Chan’s engagement photos.
As the day was approaching sunset time, we headed to another one of my favourite locations in the city, where the couple changed into a different outfit. Su wore this amazing wedding dress which made her look like a real princess! We headed to Holyrood Park which - believe it or not - is really not that far from the City Centre. It features some amazing natural landscapes and St Anthony’s chapel ruins which create a romantic and timeless atmosphere. As a Scotland wedding photographer, I am always on the look out for locations that bring romance and mood to the photos.
While we didn’t get a golden hour (Scotland is rarely sunny), I really don’t mind the cloudy weather as it makes the photos feel more moody. In my opinion, Scotland’s rugged landscapes suit this moody atmosphere perfectly so do not worry about the weather - we can definitely make it work!
