What is an Adventure Session?
So what is an adventure session?!
Adventure: [noun] an unusual and exciting or daring experience.
An Adventure Session is designed with one purpose in mind - to capture you and your love exploring Scotland together. Whether that’s mountains, valleys, rivers, meadows, beaches or city streets is completely up to you!
But why would I want a photographer to come along, you may ask?
Personally, most of my happiest memories with my husband include going on adventures and exploring places we have not visited before. (In fact, we try to get a little adventure in almost every week!) I firmly believe that these happy experiences deserve to be captured in photographs. Therefore, I always make sure to take some photos on our trips together, even if I only have my phone on me. But just imagine how much better it would be to have a photographer there with you on an epic adventure to capture some beautiful memories of the two of you having fun and enjoying each other’s company, being truly and authentically yourselves! No awkward posing, just natural guidance to produce wall-worthy images.
My experience
As a Scotland couples photographer, I have travelled far and wide for both elopements and adventure sessions. Not sure where you would like to explore next? No problem. I have dozens of suggestions for both popular and more off-the-beaten-track spots. Not sure what to bring? What footwear to wear? I am happy to advise you as much or as little as you like to make sure your experience is special and one of a kind.
What about the weather?!
There is a famous saying in Scotland: “if you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes. It will change.” It is both funny and true. Scotland is the land of the most unpredictable weather conditions, where you can have sunshine, rain, mist and snow on a single day. However, it is also true that this changeable weather often produces the most fantastic, dramatic light which fits Scotland’s rugged landscapes incredibly well, as well as creating wildly romantic images. I am happy to work in pretty much any weather conditions though I would normally reschedule if it was non stop pouring rain all day. However, a bit of a drizzle or a light shower can actually add so much romance to the photographs.
What will we do?
Here is a little summary of how my adventure sessions normally work. We agree on a location, timing, clothing and a rough itinerary in advance. Once we arrive to the location, you can start walking and exploring while I gently guide you in order to create amazing images. I may start by taking images of you just walking and looking around, chatting to each other as you would normally. Then at certain points I may ask you to stop, have a cuddle, a kiss or even a little boogie! I always strive to connect with my couples and understand what feels natural to you which will inform the way I direct you on the day. It is very important to me that you feel yourself and at ease at all times. This is how the most beautiful, authentic imagery is created.
