Glencoe Elopement Photographer for wild & adventurous hearts

Glencoe elopement photographer Ieva standing between tall grasses

My name is Ieva and I am a Glencoe elopement photographer. I have been capturing eloping couples in Glencoe for a few years now and I am still amazed at how every time I visit, this epic valley manages to look different. If you are looking to elope in between the mountains and don’t mind getting your shoes or the bottom of your dress a little muddy, I have a feeling you are going to love Glencoe!

What makes Glencoe elopements unique?

Glencoe elopement couple

Set in between an amazing mountain range, the landscapes of Glencoe are probably often what comes to mind when you think of Scotland.

The drive through the valley is always an amazing experience and there are so many beautiful locations to stop and take photos at - from the picturesque Rannoch Moor, characterised by quiet, otherworldly serenity to the waterfalls of Glen Etive to the impressive views from the hiking trails at the foot of the Three Sisters. Glencoe also offers some private, intimate locations, only known to a few local hikers that make for a perfect ceremony spot.

My favourite Glencoe elopement locations

Rannoch Moor

Rannoch Moor is a beautiful serene location at the southernmost end of Glencoe Valley which is the perfect place to take couples portraits with no one around. It is a little bit of a hidden gem and can be quite swampy to walk on, but the incredible landscape makes it all worth it!

Buachaille Etive Mòr

The foot of the impressive Buachaille Etive Mòr mountain is a very popular place for Glencoe elopement ceremonies. Not only do you have an amazing mountain towering above you, there is also a beautiful river and waterfalls running through this serene location with amazing photo opportunities.

Ralston Cairn

Ralston Cairn is a very popular, private location for elopements. It is not well known to tourists unlike many other locations in Glencoe and offers the most draw-dropping views of mountains and the valley. It also has its own nature-built stone “stage” ideal for an elopement ceremony.

The Wee White House

The wee White House (officially called Lagangarbh Hut) is a very famous feature of Glencoe which you will see in many photos for the area. The tiny White House sheltering at the bottom of a very tall mountain provides a beautiful and eye-catching background for your elopement photos.

The Three Sisters

The Three Sisters is another very popular location with visitors to Scotland and has a sizeable car park which can get full during the summer season. But fear not! This area of the valley is actually vast with many hiking trails leading in different directions so it can be easy to find a relatively private place for your ceremony or couples portraits.

Glen Etive Road

While this being a road is not an ideal place for an elopement ceremony, it is a fantastic place to get some cinematic couples portraits of walking or running on this single-track road. The dreamy road leading straight into the mountains creates a very cinematic look and truly memorable photos.

FAQs

  • Once I receive your enquiry, I typically will reply within 48 hours (check your spam in case you haven’t seen a reply in your inbox!) and confirm if I’m available on your date if you have one set already. The next step will be to arrange a video call so we can get to know each other and see if we’re a good fit. If you decide to ahead with the booking, I will send you a contract to sign as well as payment details for the deposit and remaining balance payments. Once I receive the signed contract and the deposit, your booking will be secured and we can get planning!

  • For elopements and intimate weddings, I will normally send a small “sneak peek” gallery within the week after the wedding so you have some memories to share with family & friends straightaway. The full gallery can take up to 60 days or less, depending on how busy I am that month.

  • In Scotland it is likely to rain on any given season and the weather is impossible to predict in advance. However, the good news is that the rain doesn’t ruin your elopement photos - in fact, most of the time it even enhances them, adding that dramatic mood and lighting that creates truly incredible cinematic images. So I always encourage my clients to embrace it and dance in the rain (both literally and metaphorically!). It’s always a good idea to have some warm dry clothes in the car to change into after we finish shooting as well.

  • Absolutely! I have a great deal of experience with elopements and know of a lot of incredible vendors that I can recommend to help you make your day as wonderful, fun and unique as you are!
