Chris & Cassy - Edinburgh Couples Photography
Is there a more perfect way to celebrate your anniversary than with a romantic couples photoshoot in a beautiful city so early in the morning that everyone but the birds still sleeps?
Chris & Cassy contacted me about booking a romantic Edinburgh session to celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary. They had a very small wedding and never had any professional photos taken of them so an adventurous city session felt like the perfect gift to each other to celebrate this special milestone.
Chris (who planned this session for his wife) contacted me to ask what the best time to take these photos in Edinburgh would be during the busy summer season. As a Scotland wedding photographer, I always advice my couples to have their session early in the morning (around 7.30am) because that way they can explore the stunning tourist hot spots without anyone spoiling the background of their photos. Also, the light is always beautiful, whether rain or shine.
We wandered through the quiet streets of the medieval city, stopping in various beauty spots along the way, including the beautiful Ross Fountain which offers a great view of the Edinburgh Castle and St Gile’s Cathedral.
After an hour or so, we decided to pop in to the local coffee shop to refresh ourselves with some much needed caffeine. While having their coffee, the two Canadian lovers got chatting to some tourists who were having their breakfast at the same time which resulted in some lovely candid photos. And yes, stopping for a coffee, a beer or an ice cream is highly encouraged during your session. Those are often my favourite images because they are great for storytelling and show things that you would naturally do as a couple.
