Taylor & Daniel | Isle of Skye Elopement at the Quiraing
When I arrived at the cottage in Staffin where they were getting ready just before sunrise and met Daniel, two things really struck me about him - he was the most welcoming, kind hearted man who made sure I felt super welcome knocking on the door of two strangers who traveled continents to be here in Isle of Skye. The second thing was just how incredibly excited he was to marry Taylor - he truly looked like the happiest man alive the day, beaming with joy, trembling with excitement, knowing that in a couple of short hours he will be able to finally call Taylor his wife.
When I met Taylor shortly after, I couldn’t get over how beautiful she is. Not only did she have the most welcoming heart and was radiant with joy just the same way Daniel was, her beauty truly took my breath away, especially every time she smiled - so effortlessly, confident in just how much she is loved. I literally have tears in my eyes thinking about these two and the pure, uninhibited joy and love radiating from them all day - during their vows, when Daniel so beautifully quoted Taylor’s namesake, talking about “one single thread of gold that tied me to you” (at which point Taylor’s face broke into the largest smile possible as, like myself, she is a huge swiftie), during their ring exchange when they surprised each other with the most beautiful carved wooden ring boxes with special significance to them, up and down the hills we climbed together to get some epic photos for them to remember this day forever and all in the blazing Scottish sunshine.
After they got ready separately at their cottage, Taylor and Daniel chose to have their first look right outside it with the rising sun illuminating them so beautifully. After the first look, we got in our cars and drove up the Quiraing where to couple chose to have their elopement ceremony. As this was not a legal wedding ceremony but rather an emotional one, Taylor & Daniel chose not to have a celebrant but rather lead the ceremony themselves, exchanging the beautiful personal vows they wrote at their cottage in the morning, gifting each other wedding rings in customised wooden carved boxes and performing a Scottish wedding ceremony of drinking whisky from the quaich (a Scottish sharing cup).
Following the incredibly beautiful ceremony, we explored more of the Quiraing while capturing some gorgeous portraits of the newlyweds and then drove down a short distance to the whimsical Fairy Glen where we finished the day with some more portraits and even climbed Castle Ewen to get some epic portraits for the two of them!
