Alisha & Brian - Scottish Borders Adventure Session

We had an incredible time with Ieva and the photo gallery we received back is absolutely beautiful. We had actually booked some other photographers initially for a couples shoot for our visit to Scotland but they had to cancel at the last minute. They reached out to Ieva and she was able to step in for them. We could not be more thankful for her flexibility. If I had to do it all over again, I would have booked Ieva from the start. She was so kind, friendly and made our photoshoot a lot of fun. We are in love with the photos Ieva captured and are so happy to have these memories to look back on!” (Alisha & Brian)

While Edinburgh and some of the Scottish Highland locations such as Glencoe and Isle of Skye get all the hype, the Scottish Borders remain an often overlooked but nevertheless stunning region of Scotland. If you want proof, here it is - a stunning ancient castle on a hill with beautiful golden fields all around it less than a 30 minute drive away from Edinburgh. This was the setting for Alisha & Brian’s sunset adventure session back in September. As a Scotland elopement photographer, I love nothing more than arriving to a gorgeous location at the perfect time of the day to meet a couple so full of love for each other, their session turns into a romantic movie.

If you are looking for a gorgeous castle location with nature around that’s only a short drive away from Edinburgh, I would highly recommend Crichton Castle. It’s such a peaceful area with few people around, except an occasional dog walker or two. You will either need to have a car to get to it or take a train + taxi from the train station but whichever way you choose to travel, it is definitely worth it!
